Rey Movie Review
'Rey' is about the tug of war between a Caribbean Youth Rock (Sai Dharam Tej) and Mexican-American Pop Star Zenna (Shraddha Das) for the 'Best Of The World' title. Watch the movie to know who will have the last laugh!
Sai Dharam Tej: He is a Director's Actor and does everything YVS expects him to do in his debut movie. Though his acting is just about okay in a role with mass characterization, Sai excels as a Dancer and his graceful moves in the Golimaar & Climax block were appreciable.
Shraddha Das: Its really challenging to play the role of a Mexican-American Pop Star who is arrogant, egoistic and someone with grey shades. She does a fine job in terms of acting and exudes glamour in abundance.
Saiyami Kher is one of the weak links in 'Rey'. Arpit Ranka as Mafia Don looks believable. Ali produces few laughs as 'Lungi Baba'. Raghu Babu's spoof '3 Intelligents' involving Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR is bearable. Venu Madhav as 'Virus' fails to create any impact. Tanikella, Jayaprakash Reddy and Others have played their parts.
- Sai Dharam Tej's Dances
- Shraddha Das Glamour Feast
- Golimaar song
- Lead Pair's Romantic Track

- Run Time (168 minutes)
'Rey' is touted to be the comeback vehicle of YVS Chowdary after disasters like 'Okka Magadu' and 'Saleem'. Unfortunately, Audience don't get this feeling even though the Sai Dharam Tej starrer is much better than those disasters.
Songs by Chakri are decent enough but the placement plays the spoilsport and BGM is too loud at times. Cinematography by Gunasekhar is top notch. Dialogues aren't worthy enough. Art Direction by Raghu Kulkarni is laudable. Editing could have been lot better. As Producer, YVS didn't promise on any aspect and risked too much.
Audience stepping into 'Rey' theatres need to cope with Poor Characterizations, Lack of Nativity (South Africa Backdrop), Outdated Dialogues, Over-The-Top Presentation, Pathetic Screenplay and Logic-less Direction. You ought to have a bit of patience to deal with such a stuff as almost all the actors go overboard. YVS has to blame himself for his poor judgement and over-confidence. 'Rey' could have been much better had if at least 15-20 minutes was edited and its too late for any damage control.
Box Office: 'Rey' managed to occupy more screens than anyone have expected it to be despite clash with 'Jil' but all that matters is good content at the end of the day. A decent business in B & C Centres is expected because of the Mass Orientation and Mega Fan Base. Only a miracle could save 'Rey' as around Rs 20 crore were invested on this project!!!
Verdict: A Half-Hearted Shout For Success!
