Rakshasudu Movie Review
Masss (Suriya) and his Friend (Premji Amaren), two conmen, meet with a fatal accident when they were returning with money after a robbery. There after, Masss attains the special ability to see ghosts/spirits around him. A Ghost (Suriya) sought the help of Masss and in return it promises to trace the money lost at the time of accident. Do watch 'Rakshasudu' to know what's the mission of the Ghost and how did Masss find the money...!
Suriya: Choosing a subject with paranormal element is highly risky for a star of his stature but he succeeded to a great extent. Especially, His Performance in the latter half deserves a big applause. With 'Rakshasudu', Suriya broke the myth that films made in horror genre only work for hero without stardom.
Nayantara looks stunningly beautiful but Director failed to use her potential to the fullest after a well-etched love track in first half. Pranitha appears in the flashback and she is fine. Premgi Amaren is funny and the sympathy elements works well. Samuthirakanni as antoganist is a good choice. Jai's Cameo is superb and it's an asset to the movie. Parthiban as Cop is effective.
- Interval Block
- Spooky Super Natural Element
- Melodrama in Second Half
- Computer Graphics
Suriya and Venkat Prabhu teamed up after delivering disasters such as 'Sikindar' & 'Biryani'. They surprised everyone with an unusual choice of subject and now it's the turn of movie buffs to get thrilled with the product delivered.
Couple of songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja are pretty good and they were even picturised well. His Background Score is undoubtedly one of the major highlight of movie. RD Rajasekhar's Camera Angles are worth praising and his expertise in lighting techniques elevated the output. Dialogues are decent. Stunts are shot well. Editing is crisp. CG Work is a big let down. Production Values are damn good.
We might have seen a lot of films falling in Horror Comedy genre in the recent past, but what makes the difference is Suriya's performance, Venkat Prabhu's clap-worthy screenplay and narration. On a whole, 'Rakshasudu' is different and entertaining!
Box Office: 'Rakshasudu' managed decent release in AP & Telangana. As the pre-release theatrical business is just around Rs 10 crore, This Suriya-starrer has every chance to emerge as a winner. Success Ratio of this genre is an added advantage for 'Rakshasudu'.
Verdict: Worth Watching!
