MANAM Review Movie Review
'Manam' opens with disturbances in family life of Radha Mohan (Naga Chaitanya) and Krishnaveni (Samantha) who have a son named Bittu aka Nageswara Rao (Nagarjuna). Bittu who loses his parents in car mishap grows into a successful entrepreneur. On one fine day, Nageswara Rao meets Nagarjuna (Naga Chaitanya) and Priya (Samantha) who resembles his parents. Believing they are re-born for him, Nageswara Rao befriends them and tries to bring them together.
Nageswara Rao happens to meet Chaitanya (ANR), a patient, accidentally and also finds his lady love Anjali (Shriya). It's the turn of Chaitanya to receive the shock of his life seeing Nageswara Rao and Anjali together.
Who is Chaitanya and what's his connect with Nageswara Rao-Anjali? What did Nag do to re-unite his Parents? How these 3 Generations are inter-connected to one another? Find all these answers on Big Screen!
What can we say about a legend like ANR? He has got an aura around him and its magical to watch him on screen for the last time ever. Nagarjuna who has got more screen time than ANR and Naga Chaitanya made good use of it to deliver his career-best performance. Naga Chaitanya has grown tremendously as an actor and he deserves a pat on his back.
Among the leading ladies, It's Samantha who steals the show by bringing remarkable variations to the two characters she played. Shriya earns respect as an actress for the first time ever in her career with 'Manam'.
Not to forget Akkineni Akhil who made a surprise appearance in the Climax. The countless whistles from the female audience in the theatres is a hint of his fantastic screen presence. No doubt, This Young Chap will take forward the legacy of ANR!
1) Story, Screenplay & Execution
2) Combination scenes of ANR-Nag-Chaitu; Nag-Chaitu & ANR-Chaitu
3) Samantha's top class performance

5) Direction: Vikram Kumar at his very best!

9) Production Values
Director should have focused more on logical aspects of how Naga Chaitanya and Samantha recollect their past. Probably, This is the only minor error we could find!
A beautiful film like 'Manam' is a result of a novel concept connecting 3 Generations with the backing of top-notch technicians. Full credit to Director Vikram Kumar for narrating a complex story in such an extraordinary way and also his gifted quality to extract the best performances from artistes.
Notably, 'Manam' was shot in just 100 days. Makers spent more time and money on pre-production (1 year) and post-production (6 months) for finest quality. This pattern in something we could find in Hollywood! The efforts put in by the team could be seen in every frame of this movie. Hats of to every single member of Manam cast & crew for this emotional journey.
In which category does 'Manam' fit? Classic or Masterpiece or Trendsetter? If there is one film in the recent past that fits into all these slots, It's definitely 'Manam' which is a fitting farewell for Akkineni Nageswar Rao. The Legendary Actor couldn't have asked for more even if he was alive Today.
Verdict: Missing Manam is giving a miss to Celebration! Go For It!!!
