Lion Movie Review
Bose (Balakrishna) gains consciousness after being in coma for 18 months. People mistook Bose as Godse and this complicates the situation. Bose goes in search of his identity and also wishes to find out 'Who is Godse?' The rest of the story is about finding answers to these queries.
Balakrishna carried the whole film on his shoulders effortlessly. Watching him utter powerful dialogues, do high-octane action and fast-paced dance numbers is a feast for the fans.
Trisha as Mahalakshmi is pretty ordinary and her romantic track with Balayya is a big let down. Radhika Apte as Balayya's Wife is impressive even though she was mostly limited to songs.
Prakash Raj as CM & Antagonist gives a good performance. Kota Srinivas Rao does a fine job. Jayasudha is wasted. Posani as a Cop is decent. Ali as Taxi Drive Ambali (Brother of Baahubali) is just okay. Archana, Siva Balaji and Others were adequate.
- Balakrishna's One-Man Show
- Interval Bang
- Action Sequences
- Balayya-Trisha Romantic Track
Satya Deva, a debutante, got the opportunity to handle a star like Balakrishna and film with huge scale like 'Lion'. In fact, He offered what the hardcore fans expect from a first-timer.
Manisharma has given a decent album for Balayya yet again. His background score is too good. All the songs were shot well and the 'Lion' title number will be a feast for the masses. Cinematography is fine. Dialogues pack a punch. Editing could have been crisp. Production Values are grand.
'Lion' has its moments but a few glitches in narration effected the prospects to some extent. Balakrishna, Songs, Fights and Confrontation scenes between Hero & Villains are pretty good. After an impressive Interval Bang, The film gets predictable throughout the Second Half and mostly relies on action & songs in this part. One gets the feeling a Star Director like Vinayak & Boyapati could have done a better justice to a potential script like 'Lion'.
Box Office: 'Lion' released in 950-plus screens across the World, making it one of the biggest releases ever for a Balakrishna starrer. Given the decent content, It is expected to do well in the Opening Weekend especially in all the mass circuits. For getting Break-Even, 'Lion' has to collect at least Rs 26 crore. Can Nata Simha reach the mark to score back-to-back hits after a very long time?
Verdict: Strictly For The Masses!
